A galvanized coil is a steel product with a zinc layer on its surface. The steel coil is promptly in molten Zinc to form a dense and uniform zinc layer. This zinc layer provides extra protection and increases corrosion resistance and durability.
galvanized coils have more benefits. As a protective coating, the galvanized sheet can prevent contact between steel and external environments, slowing the rate of corrosion of steel. Galvanized coils are highly resistant to weather and maintain a good surface under harsh conditions. Galvanized steel coil has excellent mechanical properties such as tensile and hardness. This allows it to resist external pressure and deformation.
The following steps can be used to divide the production of galvanized coil :
- (1) Preparation of steel coils
Select the right steel for raw material. Low-carbon steel is usually the best choice. Pre-treating steel coils by trimming, cleaning, and degreasing ensure a flat and clean surface. - (2) Pickling Treatment
The coil of steel is pickled in order to remove impurities and oxides from its surface. This step is carried out using hydrochloric and sulfuric acid solutions in a pickling system or tank to clean the steel surface. - (3) Galvanized coating is applied after the pickling process
The steel coils are dipped in a bath of molten zinc for galvanizing. The molten solution of zinc is composed of a mixture of ammonium, zinc and ammonium-zinc chloride. The steel coil is immersed for a certain period in molten zinc so that it reacts with its surface and forms a zinc-iron layer. The two layers are then stacked to create a galvanized coating that is uniform, tight, and resistant to corrosion. - (4) Cooling and treatment.
The zinc-coated steel coil is removed from the tank and quickly cooled with the cooling device. This stabilizes the zinc layer structure. The coil is then treated with water spray cooling, or air cooling in order to solidify and stabilize its zinc layer. - (5) Cutting and leveling
The galvanized coil is then leveled with a leveling device to ensure that the steel plate is flat and accurate in dimensions. The coil can then be cut according to your requirements.
The galvanized coil is widely used because of its corrosion resistance, durability and uniformity.
