THE CHOICE OF COLOR STEEL COIL COATING

The choice of color steel coil coating

In different places and different application positions, the use of color steel coils with the same hot-dip galvanizing amount, the same architectural coating, and the same thick coating will have a very different service life. For example, in industrial parks or coastal cities, due to the effects of sulfur dioxide vapor or salt in the air, the erosion rate is accelerated and the service life is endangered. In the rainy season, the coating is drenched by precipitation for a long time, or in the place where the temperature difference between day and night is very large and easy to frost, it will be quickly eroded, and the service life will be reduced.

Buildings or industrial plants manufactured with color steel coils often suffer from long-term use during precipitation cleaning, otherwise, the application will be directly affected by the effects of sulfur dioxide vapor, salt and dust. Therefore, in the design plan, if the slope of the roof is larger, the dust and other wastes will be less likely to accumulate, and the service life will be longer; for these areas or locations that are not often cleaned by precipitation, clean water should be used regularly.

The composition and efficacy of architectural coatings

  1. Epoxy resin

Epoxy resin is the chemical substance of the coating film. It is the most important component and basic in paint and coating, also called raw material. It is the primary element to determine the characteristics of the coating.

It is stipulated that the epoxy resin used as the chemical substance of the coating film is very stable during the storage period of the architectural coating, and does not produce outstanding physical changes and chemical reactions; when coating the film, it can quickly solidify the coating film under the required standards. There are many types of epoxy resins. The more commonly used epoxy resins in waterproofing membrane architectural coatings are acrylic emulsion, epoxy resin glue, polyurethane resin and polyurethane epoxy resin. Different resins have different process performance and chemical properties, as well as their aging resistance and corrosion resistance.

  1. Color paste

Color paste must be used in conjunction with epoxy resin. The primary function in paint coatings is to color the paint film. The different proportion of color paste will affect the strength, smoothness and corrosion resistance of the coating.

  1. Organic solvent

Organic solvents are a key component of liquid architectural coatings, and they are the components that can evaporate during the entire drying process of architectural coatings. Generally, solutions are also used to adjust the viscosity of architectural coatings. This type of organic solvent used to control the viscosity of architectural coatings is called paint thinner. Organic solvents are very harmful to the production, storage, coating of architectural coatings, the formation of paint layers and the quality of coating films.

  1. Modifier

Modifiers are small amounts of additives added to improve the properties of architectural coatings. Modifiers are used in paints and coatings in a very small amount, but their effects are obvious. Some of them can improve the characteristics of architectural coatings and coatings, some can increase the drying time, and some can prevent the paint film from causing lesions. There are various types of modifiers, including driers, epoxy curing agents, leveling agents, silicone defoamers, matting agents, thickeners, etc. Basically, most liquid architectural coatings are made up of some of the above four ingredients. The most important one is epoxy resin, which is also indispensable for all architectural coatings. It can be said that epoxy resin (sometimes with organic solvents and modifiers) is transparent paint, and various varnishes can be formed by adding color paste.

Architectural coatings for color steel coils are generally divided into two categories according to their use: engineering and household appliances. According to different application conditions, engineering architectural coatings are selected among epoxy resin glue, polyurethane resin, polyethylene plastic colloid solution, silicon modified material polyester and polyvinyl fluoride. Architectural coatings for household appliances are generally colored polyurethane resins.
